BC Talks’ So You Think You Can Speak: An Impromptu Showdown is the 8th annual college-wide speech contest, challenging participants in the art of impromptu speaking—also known as “thinking on your feet” or “speaking off-the-cuff.” Contestants must quickly develop and deliver a well-organized, confident speech on an assigned topic within a specific time limit. Contestants must engage the audience, think critically, and speak with confidence to succeed in this high-energy showdown! The competition consists of three levels. After Levels 1 and 2, audience votes will determine which contestants advance. In Level 3, the BC Talks Committee will select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners based on their performance.
